Happy Hanukkah

During lunch today, I put together a
Happy Hanukkah card for my boss and his family.
The blue is so soft and pretty.  I wanted to give the illusion of the menorah and just keep with the blue and white colors.

Somehow I managed to smudge the blue under the candles when I began and had no other white cardstock (since I was at work); luckily, I had some envelopes with me, so I used the work paper cutter, cutting an envelope into the perfect size for the card image.  Where there's a will, there's a way, eh?
I think that worked out pretty well!  It was zipped into the mail for a holiday piece of happy mail.

Inside, I printed this sentiment in blue ink: "May Love and Light fill your heart and home this Hanukkah".

Thanks so much for stopping by - and Happy Hanukkah!

A Different Style

This card is a different style than I usually make.
There are many details that took quite a bit
of time - that's probably why I don't usually do
this type of style in creating cards.
Besides, with working full-time, I only have about an
hour an evening to devote to card-making,
so I'm a quick "in and out" kinda gal, usually.

I actually sewed the card layers together, too.
It's a sweet look with lots of dimension, sponging, and layers.  I call this style of card "primitive".

Thanks so much for stopping by - hope you have plenty of time to create and get inky!

95 Cards Done

I've been busy getting Christmas/Holiday cards created.
At this point, the count is at 95 cards done.
This is one of my favorites so far...
I had to play with the new version of Photoshop to get these from my iPad.  I took the pictures of the card at work during lunch break.  This card is headed to my card angel tomorrow.
Lots of fun coloring on this card using the White Christmas stamp set.  It's fantastic using the different elements to make cute winter scenes, especially those adorable bluebirds.

Okay - only about 100 more cards to go!

A Mixed Week

Sometimes we all have them - a week with good stuff and some not so good stuff.  In other words, a mixed week!

I found out today that I was an Honorable Mention with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge!
Copy and paste our badge for your blog!
WooHoo!  A wonderful and fun way to have the week go.  It was with this card from this post.

The not-so-great thing was our boy kitty passed on Monday.
He wasn't very old and had cancer.
Our younger son holding Charlie before he left to go back to college.  Charlie was his "baby".
The only nice thing about Charlie being so sick before the very end was having the chance to tell our sons in time for them to come and see him, hold him, and love on him before he was gone.  We rescued Charlie and his sister Martha when they were tiny little kittens.
Martha
The week took a good turn again with the gorgeous weather we've been having for the beginning of November.  I'm not going to knock this 70-something degree weather.  It will be snow and freezing temps soon enough.  My sweetie and I went for a long walk over the weekend and enjoyed viewing the bulrushes along the bog walkway we were traversing.
Enjoying our walk and the gorgeous weather while we can
Like most of life, it's been quite a week of ups and downs.

Hope you enjoy a week of good things.
 Thanks for stopping by ~

With Love

Today I dug through a bunch of stamp sets I've
gotten from my Paper Pumpkin kits.
I have no idea which one this was from; however, the sentiment was exactly what I wanted:  With Love.
I created the one-layer card with masking - I love
using large Post-It Notes.  After the edges
were masked, the hearts were punched out,
again using the Post-It Notes.
This quick and simple technique was so easy,
I had three cards in no time.
(More to send out and share with others!)  I would have had a fourth, but somehow I ended up dragging my finger through the black ink and smudged the first card (oops!).
I'm entering three fabulous challenges with these cards:  CASology, Freshly Made Sketches, and Colour Me...!

I extended my fun by creating envelope liners.  Love the look.
Thanks for stopping by ~ hope you have a inky day!
With love,

Friendly Wishes

I've got some Friendly Wishes to send
out to a couple of gals.

They're the best - so I'm going to be sure to tell 'em!
I'm also entering a couple of online
challenges with these -

The colors are perfect for fall, and the layout was
instantly inspiring ... fantastic!  When I saw the layout and the colors, I was reminded of the wonderful Washi Tape I had in my stash - perfect for this combination, don't you think?
Off to get these cards in the mail.
Thanks so much for stopping by today ~ perhaps
you'll have some friendly wishes your way today, too!

I've Been Boo-ed!

It happened today when I first arrived at
work ... I bustled in to my work space,
barely on time.
It was there - waiting on my desk.
 I've been Boo-ed!

The little "casket" was filled with candy goodness.

Amazingly enough, I happened to snatch up my
September Paper Pumpkin as I was leaving for
work today.  I had it in my large take-to-work bag.

During lunch, I picked up some small hand lotion
samples and candy at the CVS located on the first
floor of the building where I work.
After work, I put together two of the adorable
"brooms", stuffed with the goodies I had
purchased earlier.  Of course, I
included the handout about being "Boo-ed".
I hope the next two gals at work enjoy being
Boo-ed as much as I did.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you have a Boo-tiful day!

"Thank You" For A Guy

Where do you begin when creating
a "Thank You" for a guy?

The first thing I consider is the color,
and then, of course, the layout.
Those embellishments must be kept to a minimum!
One of my bosses has recently suffered a
horrible loss - his father passed very quickly.
When you have a situation like that happen,
you inevitably have lots of thank-you notes to send out.
I didn't know what else to do to help - I decided
to make him a stack of thank-you cards.
This is what the packet of cards looked like when I gave it to my boss
The first thing he said when I gave them to him
was that he liked the color.
He thought the color was simply perfect.
My boss stated that he truly needed the cards
I made for him.  So glad they're going to get good use!
The detail of the embossed double lines on the bottom
of this card creates a Clean and Simple look any guy
would be okay using.

I entered the Less Is More challenge -
it's a Masculine challenge - with this card.

Being Thankful

Being thankful can be difficult.  When I look it up
online, it's defined as:
"pleased and relieved, expressing gratitude and
relief, being grateful and appreciative."
And, of course, there are many things we're grateful to have - a home, the ability to have fun crafting, stuff like that.  Inspiration - like online card challenges - always creates a thankful heart in me.  It's so much easier to think up ideas when you have a springboard to use.
For my cards today, I used the Fusion Card Challenge
where you can use a sketch and/or a photo for your inspiration piece.  I did the sketch.
And also the Can You Case It? Challenge where the colors were browns, greens, and neutrals.
I tend to make cards that are probably best described as "clean" - not a lot of embellishments, and plenty of space for the eye to rest.
I am giving these cards to some of my stamper customers/friends to thank them for stamping with me.

At first, I had in mind to put lots of designer papers and stuff like that on this card.  I began to look through my stash and none of the papers satisfied what I had in mind.  I pulled out my collection of masks and began to sort through them and play a bit.  After getting started, I felt like the texture of the fun circles, the layers, and the sponged masking was plenty, deciding to keep the vanilla layers "clean" to keep the card from being overwhelming.  I love how sponging ink through a mask creates great shades of color and interest.

Hope you have a fabulous day and lots of reasons to be thankful!  Thanks for stopping by ~

Birthday For The Boss

Want a quick card that looks great for a guy's birthday?

Me, too!  So I came up with this one after doing
a Google search for the stamp set.
It's a total CASE (Copy And Share Everything).
It took a few ink pads, and cardstock colors - but -
Wow!  Love the ease and quick way it came
together and still looks so nice.

Got a birthday coming up in your life?

I do!  My bestie from since I was "knee high to a grasshopper" has her Happy Birthday coming up this week! So I made her this card...
The clear and white sequins on this card add a playful element
Two great challenges were the inspiration for this card: Colour Me...! and Sketch Saturday.

Super glad I have a card for my buddy, and a couple of challenges done, too - WooHoo!

Hope you're able to get inky today!

Good Things Are Going To Happen

Have you had any Good Things happen to you lately?

We've been doing a renovation of our house, so I'm feeling a mixed bag of Good Things and others.  I'll leave it at that.  It's a learning experience, that's for sure!!

This card is definitely a Good Thing, especially since it's going out to my Card Angel this upcoming week.  I'm a part of the Chemo Angels program.  If you enjoy making cards, you should consider this very uplifting and worthwhile avenue to share your love of card making.

A fun card with a great message!
The butterflies have been inked onto the art piece of the card using a mask created with punches, scrap paper, and an inked-up sponge.  I also finally got to use the thick Whisper White card stock - love it!  Such a stronger paper.

This card is being entered into the CAS-ology Cue Card Challenge with "Wings".

Blue-ish greens, white, and black create a soothing and clean card
Hope you're able to get inky today!
