Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
From our wonderful source of all things internet (Wikipedia), we find:
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is an American Federal Holiday, which made getting into work a piece of cake today!  Yay!

It's observed on the third Monday of January each year, which is around King's birthday, January 15.

King was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. The campaign for a federal holiday in King's honor began soon after his assassination in 1968. President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed three years later. At first, some states resisted observing the holiday as such, giving it alternative names or combining it with other holidays. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.

Hope you have a wonderful day and a chance to get inky!

Sketch Saturday

My son requested some cards he could mail out for Christmas thank yous.

After scouring online for Sketch Challenges, I was instantly inspired by Sketch Saturday - seeing the resulting card in my mind's eye, almost immediately!
Thanks for the inspiration!  Love how these cards turned out.
Thanks for stopping by!

A Look Alike

Card kits are fabulous - they're super handy to have around for that last-minute card.

However, I keep mine at work, and found myself needing some thank-you cards when I was at home.  I quickly designed this Look Alike card, similar to a card I would be able to create from my Watercolor Wonders card kit.
I love how easy it was, and how bright and cheery the colors are for this winter day!
I "felted" the flowers for a bit of texture and added the cute pearl rimmed with silver.
Off they go into the mail!
~ Hope you get a bit inky today ~

Google Update for Blog Following

After looking at a dear friend's blogpost today, I went to a link she shared about Google Updates and discovered this:

In short, as part of a formerly-announced plan of Google's (from waaaay back in 2011, starting the week of January 11, Google is removing the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, they’ll remove non-Google Account profiles.

If you use a non-Google Account to follow my blog, you'll need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow my blog. With a Google Account, you’ll get blogs added to your Reading List, making it easier for you to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs you follow.

I enjoy hearing from all my friends and want to continue to know you're around!

Thanks so much for reading this notice - hope to hear from you soon!
