Shadow Resist - AAA Cards Blog Hop

What do you think is something fun about stamping?
One thing I think is fun about stamping is learning new techniques.
Here's a tutorial for one that I love to make a card that looks like this . . .
It's called Shadow Resist.

          Supplies -
Stamps - a solid image stamp (larger images work best)
you could use Jumbo Butterfly Trio from Stampendous
                 - Stampendous Loving Messages
Card Stock - any light to medium color.  I used Very Vanilla
Ink - VersaMark Ink pad and any other ink you would like.  I used Crumb Cake
Other - Heat Embossing Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Stampin' Sponge,
                 Small Binder Clip, Tissue

Here we go:
1.  Begin with your light-colored card stock and gather your supplies

2.  Cut a Stampin' Sponge into quarters.
Cut a wedge about 1/3 of the size from the quarter.
Cut the wedge in half, removing the narrow end.

3.  Squeeze the sponge lengthwise and place into a
small binder clip.  This creates a sponge similar to a
Sponge Dauber, but softer - more linear and less round.

4.  Stamp solid image with VersaMark ink and heat
emboss using Clear Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool.

5.  Ink up the sponge.  Starting on the embossed image,
rub small circles towards the edge of the image.
Keep motions small and gentle so just a
small highlight or halo of sponging
appears around the image.  Continue inking the sponge and
circling at the edge of the embossing until all edges are highlighted.

6.  Once complete, gently rub image with a tissue or
soft cloth to remove any ink from the embossed areas.
Then simply continue to stamp and embellish as you wish.

And there you have it!  A stunning card that is Clean and Simple.
Everyone and anyone will love to get this card.
So . . . what's something you think is fun about stamping?

Sending Good Thoughts Your Way

Sending Good Thoughts Your Way -
That's what I'm doing today!!
Hoping you're having a great day and sunshine.
Here in northern Ohio, we've got lots of dark and rain right now.
But to quote an old song, "The sun will come out tomorrow!", right?
6-19Sketch208
Pals Paper Arts is having a great sketch challenge
this week, and it has to be entered by noon today.
Of course, I made more than one - 'cuz if you're cutting up the paper anyway,
you may as well make two - one to send and one to keep!
Or both to send - depending on how you roll.
I gave away lots of things at Physical Therapy this morning. since
I'm stuck going with this torn meniscus
- may as well make the most of it!
One lovely lady is going to book a "Mommy and Me" class!
I'm so excited!!
Sounds like we'll have loads of fun.

What I used:
Inks - Lost Lagoon (#133644); Mossy Meadow (#133645);

Hope your day is filled with sunshine!  After all - I'm sending Good Thoughts Your Way!!

Lace and Pearls - Paper Take Weekly

Lace and Pearls - a very feminine
combination, wouldn't you say?
Well, that's the theme at Papertake Weekly's latest challenge.

This card fits right in with some lace ribbon and
lots of pearls, both in the feisty flowers and dotting the card.
See how the flowers sparkle?
I spritzed them with some Vanilla Shimmer
The lace upon the burlap is a fun texture twist!
I think the colors are perfect for
a summer birthday, don't you?
Whoops!  I realized today that I had totally forgotten a birthday,
so I was quick to create this summery
card for posting right away!

What I used:
Ribbon - Burlap (#132140) and Victoria Lace Crochet (retired product)

Hooray!  We have some new neighbors, and I was put in
charge of welcoming new neighbors to the 'hood
by the Homeowners Association.
I'm going to hand this card to them, along with some
other goodies from our area of Ohio,
all wrapped up in a pretty basket.
Lucky for me that Retrosketches had a

Hello - A Dozen Thoughts

What was your weather like last night?
We had rain - actually, we had a torrential downpour.
Hello - hello - hello!  A bright and sunny
card after a night of storms.

I thought I'd play along with the Paper Players today,
but I misunderstood the instructions.  I thought I could use any
of the past sketches that I wanted because they are celebrating
their 200th!  Well - that's not what the instructions are . . . so I'll give
it another go later on.  But anyway, this is
what I have to share for today.
Lots of texture and fun shapes and elements.
Areas around our home are flooded and roads are closed.
Getting to Physical Therapy was a real trick this a.m. since I kept
taking roads only so far and then discovering it was closed.
A golf course nearby is a very large lake.  Sure hope people who
live in those areas are ok and their homes won't require too much
work to get them back in tip-top condition.

A small listing of what I used:
Stamp set - Four Frames (#123440); A Dozen Thoughts (#131056)
Inks - Daffodil Delight (#126944) and Smoky Slate (#131179)
Card Stock - Smoky Slate (#131202); Soft Sky (#131203); Basic Gray (#108692); Daffodil Delight (#119683); Whisper White
Glimmer Silver Paper (#124005)

Love Those Pinwheels

Have you got an occasion to celebrate?
Pinwheels always look festive!
I made some this weekend with Designer Paper, brads and paper straws!
They actually spin, too.
Well, one of the attorneys for whom I work has been with the firm for 25 years!
That's a long time!!
The longest I kept a job was 15 years - as a court reporter.
I thought that was pretty good - but 25?!  Wow.
Now, I'm sure many of you have had jobs for a long time, too.
And you deserve a bit of congrats as well.
If I could give you a cookie, I would.
I made some cookies over the weekend, so one was wrapped up and
decorated with a pinwheel, a little "celebrate" banner with cute paperclip
and Baker's Twiue.  I'll put this on my boss's desk to let him know I was thinking
of him and his 25-year anniversary.

What will you celebrate today?

What I used:

Embossing With The AAA Card Challenge

Don't you just love to create something new and different?
Just losing yourself in a little bit of fun and making
something that is just yours?
This week, on the AAA Card Challenge, we are to create any 2 kinds of embossing
and some pink on a card that is as CAS (Clean And Simple) as possible.
My two embossing techniques are dry embossing with a folder
(two folders, actually) and then heat embossing with an Iridescent Ice
Embossing Powder and Heat Tool.
And I even did the inside with a sentiment!
The card was so fun and easy that I created two - one for a friend with
MG and the other for my Chemo Angel.
The something "Pink" is the little heart that I punched out.
There are prizes to be had - so link up and have some fun with your creation.
Update:
Our challenge prize this week comes from our happy sponsor BlueMoon Scrapbooking. A cute set called "Salt to my Pepper". This prize is snail mailed to your home.
You can visit and shop at BlueMoon Scrapbookings online store! They are quick to answer questions, have LOTS of cool crafting products and have a terrific sale going on right now!

I can't wait to see what you make!

What I used:
Inks - Perfect Plum; Early Espresso (#126974)
Punches - 1-3/4" Circle (#119850); Heart (retired)
Embossing Powder - Iridescent Ice (#101930)
Framelits - Banners (#132173)

Fabulous Friday

Ready for Friday the 13th?  LOL!!
Hey - it's going to be a great day - namely because it is a Friday,
 and those are always fantastic!!
I'm entering this patriotic-looking card into the Retro Sketches Challenge,
Paper Players, and also the NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff), since I had this
Designer Paper and hadn't used a single bit yet!!
Hope you have a great day!

Teeny Tiny Wishes - Seize The Sketch

Something bright and cheery is perfect on a bit of a gloomy day, don't you think?
That's why I've got this card today -
Oh, and also to enter into the Seize the Sketch Challenge.
It's going to my uncle who just had a stent procedure done yesterday to
 correct an artery blockage.
When I went outside to snap the picture, I startled a rabbit who began to head to our
woods, but then stopped completely (as if it thought then I wouldn't see it).
The rabbits don't bother me this year since I don't have any vegetables planted.
See it?

Here's the great sketch from Seize the Sketch.

And that little rabbit stayed until I was done taking all my pictures - can you see it
in the right background of this shot here?  Silly rabbit!!

What I used:
Stamps - Blended Bloom (#135906); Teeny Tiny Wishes (#115370)
Ink - StazOn Jet Black; Melon Mambo (#126948)
Card Stock - Crushed Curry (#131199); Whisper White; Brights Designer Series Paper Stack (#130134); Pumpkin Pie
Blendabilities Markers (#130997 and #130998)
