Loving Flowers - CASology - New Technique

What could be better than getting inky?  Not much.
Did two new (to me) things when making this card.

I sponged color directly onto my largest acrylic block from my ink pads,
misted it well with water, and then laid the card stock onto the block
to soak up the color.  That was how the background was done.

The other new (to me) technique was to color the rhinestones
with my alcohol markers (Blendabilities)
I really love the soft way they turned out.  I colored with various yellows and reds.

When I was at work today, I looked down while typing and noticed that I had ink
under two nails and ink stained fingers, still, from this kind-of-messy
technique.   (Believe me, I really washed up, too!)
I LOVE getting inky!  I don't mind that at all.  Yay!
When I see ink all over me, that means I had fun.  How about you?

I'm entering this into the CASology Challenge because their cue word is Flower.
What I used:
Card Stock - Whisper White (#100730); Pistachio Pudding (#131294)
Ink - StazOn Black; Pistachio Pudding (#131177); Pink Pirouette (#111838); Wild Wasabi (#109014); Pool Party (#126982); Blushing Bride (#131172); Strawberry Slush (#131178); Calypso Coral (#122939)
Stamp Sets - Stippled Blossoms (#126747 - clear); Yippee-Skippee! (#131344 - clear); Flower Shop (#130942 - clear); and Summer Silhouettes (#126447 - clear)
Other - Acrylic Block; Stampin' Sponges (#101610); Basic Rhinestone Jewels; Blendabilities Markers (will be in the new catalog); Fuse Adhesive (will be in the new catalog).

Flourishes for Paper Players

I worked on techniques last night and got super inky.
Just two large post-it notes, a sponge, card stock, some ink and stamps.
Oh yeah, I used an embossing folder, too.
Can you see the embossing folder that I used as a background stamp
in the Crushed Curry color?  I didn't have a background stamp that was large
enough, so I just inked up the embossing folder and laid it on my card stock.
Of course, I also made sure to decorate the inside of the card.
This is going straight to my Chemo Angel today.  I really want to send
good thoughts her way.
I'm entering The Paper Players Challenge with this.
By the way, we have a fabulous challenge going on at AAA Cards.

What I used:
Inks - So Saffron; Daffodil Delight (#126944); Crushed Curry (#131173); Pumpkin Pie (#126945); Rose Red; Rich Razzleberry (#115658); Black StazOn
Stamp Sets - Too Kind (#130447); Flowering Flourishes (#126367)
Card Stock - Whisper White (#100730); Basic Black (#121045)
Embossing Folder - Modern Mosaic (#129984)
Stampin' Sponges (#101610)

My Sister Is Retiring

My sister is retiring!

She's only four - sometimes five - years older
 than I am, and she's retiring!  She's been a
United Methodist minister for 30 years!!!

I can't even think about retiring for another 15 years or so.
I'll admit it - she's much more of a planner than I am.

She came over, and we made her Retirement Party invites.
Karen is showing both sides of her invitations
She had lots of "rules" about what she wanted in her invite:
  •  it had to be like a postcard - no fold to it;
  • simple, not too many layers;
  • have a butterfly or cross;
  • no 'extra stuff' like ribbons or glitter; and
  • be cheery, fun, and unique (like she is!).

We checked everything off her list!

Blooming With Kindness CASE

CASE (Copy And Share Everything) is the name of the game in stamping.
Using the Blooming With Kindness (#131961 wood; #126422 clear) stamp set,
I CASEd a card from the new Stampin' Up! catalog.
Easy, quick, and fun!  Just the way I like it.
I made a whole mess of 'em at the last party I taught.
Whisper White card stock (#100730) is the card,
Gorgeous Grunge (#130514 wood; #130517 clear)
in Crumb Cake ink (#126975) that was actually stamped off once
to make it lighter, the flower stamped in Calypso Coral (#126983) ink,
and the sentiment in Early Espresso (#126974) ink.
The finishing touch was a Rhinestone Basic Jewel (#119246).
Love it - just one layer and classy!

Sketched Birthday

One of my favorite stamp sets is the
Sketched Birthday stamp set #130423 wood, #130426 clear).
Why? Well, I've said it before, and I'll say it again --
Birthday cards are one of the most requested items in my classes.
Project Picture #2
Everyone has a birthday, and people truly enjoy the
special feeling they get when they receive a birthday card.
Project Picture #2
So it makes sense that stampers like to share that special feeling
with thoughtful, handmade cards.
Project Picture #2
One of my favorite birthday sets is Sketched Birthday because
the simple sketch designs look great simply stamped, when colored
with Stampin' Write Markers or our fabulous new Blendabilities Markers.

The designs aren't too kid-like, too old fashioned, or too feminine -
so they work for anyone's birthday.
Project Picture #1
Add Sketched Birthday to your wish list; you'll be glad to have
this standby in your crafting stash!
Sketched Birthday stamp set
Tip: Stamp images with StazOn Ink for watercoloring or
with Memento Ink when coloring with Blendibilities.

You Are a Fabulous Work of Art

I created a bunch of these cards to give as birthday cards
and also as give-aways at a recent event.

The stamp set is a new one coming out of the new Stampin' Up! catalog.
It will be available in June.
The Ombre look of the card is easy when you just keep stamping up the card . . .
A bit of sponging, some ribbon - voila!  A great card to send to a friend in no time flat.

Birthdays - AAA Cards

What does absolutely everyone you know have?
There are no exceptions to this one . . .
Give up?
 A birthday!!
And what could be better than a handmade
card in your mail to wish you happy?!
Everyone likes it when their birthday is remembered . . . even if they pretend that they don't!

AAA Cards has a fabulous challenge beginning today:
These colors are fantastic together.
And the sketch - so much fun!
WooHoo!  Get over there - Be sure to play
and have some fun with us.

In fact, it was such a great sketch and color
scheme that I did two cards.

So - for the first one:
is the base.
 Using the adorable
stamp set on Whisper White (#100730) card stock,
the candles were alternated in
Calypso Coral ink (#126962) that were stamped
both in full strength and "stamped off" so
the candles were the same color but a different shade.
The Sentiment was stamped and then cut out.
After taking a "bite" out of the Whisper White with
was adhere to the base.  And in the "bitten" area,
the sentiment was stamped again.
made the Paper Piercing element a piece of cake.
And to finish the card, my 2-Way Glue Pen (#100425)
to the candle flames.

Such fun!!

The second is a swing card . . .
need to create these easy and fun cards!
Everyone loves 'em!!

You open up the front - the sentiment
swings open . . .
And then you open the last flap
for even more birthday fun!  Love it!
The cupcake icing is super-duper sparkly!

Tip - Use the VersaMark pad to get a punched part ready, then sprinkle some Heat and Stick Powder on it.  After heat setting with the Heat Tool, you have an adhesive that covers your entire area.  Then you can use something like Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to make your entire punched piece shine!!

What I used:

You need to get over to the AAA Card Challenge
and play along.  I can't wait to see what you create!
See you there!!
